New Editor-in-Chief at The Economist

27 March 2006

LONDON - The global business magazine last week named US national John Micklethwait as its sixteenth editor.
Formerly The Economist's US editor, Micklethwait succeeds Bill Emmott, who stepped down as editor in February after thirteen years in the driving seat - over which period he doubled the magazine's circulation.
The magazine boasts global sales of 1.1 million. It reportedly seeks further expansion in the USA where its existing readership already exceeds that of the UK.
