NBC Universal Q3 Profits Slip

17 October 2006

NEW YORK: US Media and entertainment giant NBC Universal has reported a 10% slide in profits during the third quarter.

The General Electric-owned business says weaker advertising revenues and the modest performances from movies like King Kong and Black Dahlia contributed to profits of $542 million (€433m; £291m), down from $603m in the same quarter last year.

Overall Q3 revenue for the division, which encompasses NBC, Telemundo and Universal Pictures, rose 20% to $3.6m. GE's profits rose 10% to $4.9 billion.
