Murdoch Gives NewsCorp Shares to His Children

06 February 2007

NEW YORK: Rupert Murdoch has given each of his six children $100 million (€77m; £51m) in non-voting shares in the dynastic News Corporation media empire.

The veteran chairman/ceo controls the business through a family trust. Control of the trust will eventually pass to his four adult children including heir-apparent James.

However, there is no indication that this arrangement will be extended to include his two much younger daughters by third wife Wendi Deng.
