Motorola Announces Sudden Death of Marketing Chief

Cellphone giant Motorola has announced the sudden death of chief marketing officer Geoffrey Frost.

Frost, who was in his fifties and passed away at his Chicago, US home, joined the company in 1999 as corporate vp of global marketing and communications for the personal devices business. He was appointed to the top marketing job last year.

Said chairman/ceo Ed Zander: "Geoffrey was an innovative and charismatic leader, and Motorolans around the world came to rely on him as both a trusted colleague and a friend. Motorola and the marketing community have lost a creative genius."

Before joining US-headquartered Motorola, Frost was global director of advertising and brand communications for sportswear titan Nike, where he oversaw brand strategy, advertising, direct marketing and

George Neill, corporate vp of marketing, will take on Frost's duties on an interim basis.
