Mondex Launches ‘Small Change’ Internet Payment System

22 May 2001

Web surfers now have an alternative to using their credit card for web purchases – especially for low-ticket items.

The developer, smartcard specialist Mondex, believes the card will be a boon to web-users, many of whom are reluctant to use their credit cards for low value purchases such as downloaded information or music.

The new card interfaces with the user’s PC and its ‘cash’ balance can be topped-up online. Mondex is currently in discussion with a number of e-traders about distribution of the card which will bear the retailer's brand and be supplied free to consumers.
