Mondadori Eyes Emap's French Magazine Assets

    SEGRATE, ITALY - The Italian media group controlled by scandal-beset Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, has emerged as a potential bidder for Emap's French magazine operations, put up for sale last week [02-Mar-06].
    Mondadori announced it is "evaluating the opportunity" to buy Emap France's consumer magazine and television listings publications.
    Mondadori publishes top-selling Italian consumer titles including Grazia and Donna Moderna and has a market share of 40%. It now aims to extend its operations outside Italy.
    German publisher Gruner+Jahr is also said to be "carefully monitoring" the development of the Emap France sale.
