Microsoft Teams with Digitas to Offer Marketing Services

09 August 2001

Microsoft will today announce a partnership with Boston interactive agency Digitas to offer large companies “technology and marketing solutions”, helping them target potential customers.

The scheme could involve management consultancy, with the partners advising on global marketing strategies, alongside the production of CD-ROMs and websites plus on and offline advertising. Such services would run in tandem with clients’ existing campaigns, or in some cases replace them.

Although the scheme’s initial clientele will mostly comprise existing Microsoft customers, involving heavy use of MSN-branded media, the software giant intends in the long term to offer the program to all large companies and on all platforms, say sources. Moreover, extra agency partners will probably be taken onboard in the future.

For Microsoft, the program represents a new source of revenue, while for Digitas – currently suffering the same difficulties as all i-shops – it provides an opportunity to reach new clients.
