Metro International Chief Prepares to Quit

STOCKHOLM: The president/ceo of free newspaper publisher Metro International, Pelle Tornberg, is to step down from the role this summer. He has been with the company since its founding in Sweden in 1995.

The business now publishes in 100 cities in twenty countries across Europe, Asia, and North and South America, claiming a reach of 22.8 million readers daily.

Tornberg said in statement: "With Metro International now being profitable ... and with global leadership in one of the most exiting and fastest growing segments of the media industry, and after almost twenty years of entrepreneurship within the same group, this is a good opportunity for me to hand over the daily leadership . . ."
