McDonald’s Goes for Light – And Not Just the Cooking Oil

Branding consultant Larry Light has beamed-down through the Golden M to become the first occupant of the global marketing throne at McDonald’s.

Light, former chairman/ceo at Bates Advertising’s international division, most recently presided over brand consulting firm Arcature. At McDonald’s, he transcends to the post of executive vice president and global chief marketing officer, reporting to ceo Jack Greenberg.

Light’s appointment coincides with the introduction by McDonald’s of a new lower-cholesterol cooking oil for the burger behemoth’s french fries.
