Macquarie Under Media Watchdog Scrutiny

22 February 2006

CANBERRA - The Australian Communications and Media Authority is investigating the control of five commercial radio broadcasting licences owned ostensibly by Elmie Investments, but financed by Macquarie Media Group.
The media watchdog wants to know whether there is any situation in which Macquarie could end up with control of the licences.
Current rules stipulate that one operator cannot own more than two radio stations in any licensed area.
