A FORMIDABLE ARRAY of big retail, banking and travel names are negotiating the high street launch of the Multos card - a multi-purpose smartcard developed by Mondex and MasterCard. It can accommodate cash, credit, debit, travel and loyalty facilities within an integral microchip and allows consumers to change the services held on the card. Maosco, the consortium behind Multos, includes Mondex and MasterCard plus other big guns like Motorola, Hitachi and Siemens. Also involved in development discussions are Mondex franchise-owners National Westminster and Midland Banks, along with Tesco, J Sainsbury and London Underground.
