M&Ms Voted Top Icon at Launch of US Ad Week

Some of America's best-loved advertising icons have descended on New York as the US ad industry kicks off its Advertising Week.

The event, conceived by the American Association of Advertising Agencies, is a celebration of the contributions of advertising to the economy, culture and media.

It includes a new advertising Walk of Fame down Madison Avenue for the top five favorite ad icons of all time – as voted for in an online consumer poll.

M&M's talking candies -- with the 'milk chocolate melts in your mouth -- not in your hands' slogan -- took the top star, beating off stiff competition from the likes of the Pillsbury Doughboy and Kellogg's Tony the Tiger.
