Losses Down, Subscribers Up for T-Online

Europe’s leading ISP T-Online International has cut its losses and gained more subscribers.

The online giant, a unit of Deutsche Telekom, reported net losses of €459 million ($492m; £311m) for 2002, down from €797m the year before. Over the same period, total European subscriber numbers rose 15% to 12.2m. Growth was even quicker in France, where the number of customers jumped by 253,000 to 1.03m.

EBITDA (earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization) stood at €103.5m, while overall sales jumped 39% to €1.58 billion. Its core access business saw sales surge 31% to €1.24bn, while non-access revenues soared 76% to €339.2m.
