Local Supermarket Chain to Sponsor Russian Football

MOSCOW: Russian supermarket chain X5 Retail Group has inked a 370 million rubles ($14m; €10.6m; £7.2m) deal to sponsor the Russian Football Union and the national soccer team for six years.

The union's chief, Vitaly Mutko, has high hopes for the agreement, which he declares will help revive "the glory of Russian football" and bring happiness to millions of fans.

X5, the country's biggest grocer by sales, now has the right to advertise on stadium panels during nationally televised games and place rolling ads on TV broadcasts.
