Japan's largest ad agency Dentsu - also number five in AdAge's global rankings - has set aside rivalries with the nation's third largest shop Asatsu-DK to launch a joint venture.
Drill, starting in January, will be a western-style planning shop both for creative and strategic work. Control of the new company will be split 60%/40% in Dentsu's favour.
The UK-based WPP Group has a 20% stake in Asatsu. The new shop could signal the start of greater co-operation between Dentsu and WPP.
