French-headquartered international out-of-home advertising giant J C Decaux bettered its own net profits forecast for 2004, posting a 91% hike to €78.1 million ($104.83m; £54.42m) compared with €40.9m in 2003.
Said a company statement: "2004 was a record year for the group ... [which] continued to outperform the advertising market ... driven by the recovery of the European advertising market and the contribution of recent contract wins and investment, particularly in the United States and Asia."
By divisions, EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) margins were 43.5% for street furniture, 13.8% for billboard and 6.5% for transport. Street furniture EBITDA accounted for 83% of the group's total.
