JCDecaux posts strong results

31 January 2011

PARIS: Outdoor advertising specialist JCDecaux enjoyed strong revenue growth in 2010, with the transport division - including airport and public transport system ads - proving particularly profitable.

Reuters reports that the firm's revenue grew 9.1% to €2.35bn ($3.22bn; £2bn) for the 12-month period, beating analysts' forecasts.

Revenues rose by 15.6% in the transport division, with street furniture up 7.4% and billboards by 3.8%.

The strong results come despite a challenging economic climate, with many clients feeling the effects of the global financial crisis and economic slowdown.

Moreover, JCDecaux said bookings remain "encouraging" for Q1 2011.

According to Warc's latest International Ad Forecast, outdoor adspend will grow worldwide by 5.7% in 2011, following a 5.6% rise last year.

Russia will be the star performer this year, with spend growing by 19.8%. India and China will also post double-digit rises.
