Interpublic Revamps Initiative's Worldwide Board

17 March 2008

NEW YORK: Having bid 'adieu' to retiring chairman/ceo, Alex Gerster, Interpublic Group media network Initiative has undergone the ritual musical chairs makeover.

As the music stopped, Richard Beaven leapt into the chair previously occupied by Gersten, while the joint chief operation officers for EMEA – Dirk Wiedenmann and Jerry Hill – respectively fill the new roles of president Initiative Media Europe and global strategic development director.

Coo Asia Pacific King Lai assumes the role of president, Initiative Media Asia Pacific, and coo for Latin America Jean-Christophe Pitt becomes president for that region.

Recently appointed Tim Spengler, president of Initiative USA, also joins the new management team; as does Janet Fitzpatrick, chief strategic officer, Initiative Worldwide, who becomes global communications planning director.

Meantime, the Pied Piper accompanying the scramble for chairs – Universal McCann worldwide ceo Nick Brien – is playing a tuneful ditty composed by IPG chairman/ceo Michael Roth. It's devised to UM and Initiative closer together.
