UK-headquartered online research gateway Ingenta has forged an alliance with American reference publisher Gale to build what the duo hype as “the world’s most complete online, full-text journal service.”
Gale, a unit of the Thomson Corporation, provides full electronic versions of magazine and newspaper articles. In addition to titles in Gale’s database – among them the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal and the must-read Oil and Gas Monthly – Ingenta will supply access to over 5,400 journals to the venture.
In total, over 10,000 newspapers, magazines and journals will be available electronically under the scheme. Libraries are expected to make up the majority of customers, though individuals will be able to access articles on a pay-per-view basis.
