Government to Break Drink-Drive Ads Showing Real-Life Crashes

23 November 2000

The British Government will on Monday break a campaign against drinking and driving over Christmas which features footage of real-life road accidents caused by drunk drivers.

The images will be broadcast in three 30-second ads, each with a soundtrack of classic Christmas hits such as Mistletoe and Wine by Cliff Richard, Roy Wood’s I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day and Silent Night.

The ads, produced by Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO with billings of £1.9 million, will end with the tagline “Drinking and driving is one Christmas tradition we can do without”.
