Google Denies Browser Rumors

02 June 2006

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIFORNIA - Google ceo Eric Schmidt has quashed speculation that the internet search titan will launch a web browser to compete with Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

Schmidt told Wall Street analysts the company was content for now to team with developers of existing browsers, rather than build its own. He said Google would only go ahead with its own browser "if we thought there was a real end-user benefit".

Which is more an evasive action than a denial.
