Global: Diageo Taps Adman for Worldwide Agency Oversight Role

Diageo has turned to a former agency executive to fill the vacant position of worldwide head of advertising procurement.

Taking up the role in early November is Adam Kirby, quondam account director on the Stella Artois creative business at Lowe Howard-Spink.

Kirby’s most recent post was as business development director at online ad firm Adgistics, before which he worked for Wieden & Kennedy in London and Tempus & Partners.

At one point he quit the ad industry, leaving Bates Dorland in 1999 citing a collapse in client–agency trust and the failure of advertisers to reward agencies sufficiently.

In his new role he will have plenty of opportunity to practise what he preached – he will work with Diageo’s creative shops on such thorny topics as pay and performance, as well as helping brand marketing directors choose agencies. He will answer to Alison Littley, the drinks giant’s global head of demand procurement.
