Global Broadband Numbers Continue to Rise

HONG KONG: A new report issued by the Geneva-headquartered International Telecommunication Union reveals the number of world broadband subscribers topped 216 million in 2005 and mobile services have notched 62m users across 60 countries.

The report by the United Nations-sponsored organization, meeting this week in Hong Kong, notes that the internet has radically transformed business and individual lifestyles, enabling people to create and share information and knowledge instantly on a global scale.
