Germany’s T-Online Swings to Second-Quarter Profit

14 August 2003

German ISP giant T-Online swung into the black for the second quarter on the back of healthy demand for broadband internet.

The Deutsche Telekom unit – one of Europe’s leading web service providers – posted pre-tax profits of €21 million ($23.8m; £14.8m) for the three months to June, up from a loss of €38m in Q2 2002.

Sales jumped nearly 25% to €449m due to strength in the German broadband market.

At the end of June, T-Online had 12.67m customers, up 10% year-on-year.
