German Economic Recovery Continues

16 August 2006

BERLIN: Germany's economy grew 0.9% between April and June - its fastest rate for five years.

The figures were boosted by higher domestic demand, says the German Federal Statistics Office. Figures for the previous quarter were also revised upwards to 0.7% from an initial estimate of 0.4%.

The numbers could signal an interest rise across the region following a recent upturn in France.
