GM Extends Deals to Capitalize on US Holiday Sales

DETROIT: Struggling US automaker General Motors, reeling from soaring gas prices and plummeting consumer confidence, has extended the incentive scheme it introduced at the end of June through to the July 4 holiday weekend.

The 72-month, zero percent finance offer has "sparked momentum by getting customers off the couch and back into the stores", says vp-vehicle sales, service and marketing in North America Mark La Neve.

The incentive deal also helped keep the company ahead in US vehicles sales with a 22% market share for June, just ahead of a threatening Toyota Motor.
