J Walter Thompson has beaten M&C Saatchi in the contest for the launch of Glamour, Conde Nast’s latest lifestyle magazine.

Already a hit in the USA, Glamour’s £5 million UK launch will take place next spring, striving for reader figures of at least 200,000 in the first year of publication.

JWT wants to build a wide readership base for Glamour, including people who would normally avoid such magazines.
Behind the scenes, Simon Kippin from National Magazine Company has been named as Glamour’s publisher, and Jo Elvin, who currently edits New Woman, will leave Emap to become editor.
