GCap Lifts Two Fingers to the Moneymen, Appoints Hazlitt CEO

24 December 2007

LONDON: Fru Hazlitt (44) has been appointed to the role of ceo at the UK's largest radio company, GCap Media, with immediate effect. She currently serves as managing director of GCap London.

Outgoing ceo Ralph Bernard announced last month he would quit the company, which is struggling to stem falling ratings, as soon as a successor could be found. An appointment was not expected to be announced until the New Year.

One of three internal candidates, Hazlitt's elevation was reportedly opposed by certain investors. However, the moneymen were bested by an unnamed "senior figure" within GCap who reportedly threatened to resign if she was not appointed.

Says Hazlitt: "I joined GCap with a strong conviction that it has a great future and the six months I have spent here have only reinforced this view. I look forward to presenting our plans in early 2008."
