French TNT Channels Attract €73.3m in Year One

12 April 2006

PARIS - New French digital terrestrial channels have attracted €73.3 million ($88.63m; £50.92m) in advertising during their first year of existence, reports local ad-tracking service Yacast.
There are now nine channels on French TNT (terrestrial national television). Their aggregated revenues in the year to 1 April 2006 represented 1.3% of the global revenue earned by all French TV channels over the same period.
Comments Tiphaine de Raguenel of Aegis media agency Deep Blue: "Some TNT channels attracted as much advertising as some [cable and satellite] channels. Considering how young they are, it is a very good sign. Advertisers also took a chance by investing in them despite the absence of audience figures. It bodes well for the future."
