France Telecom in €200 Million TV Content Expansion

PARIS: Europe's third largest telco, France Telecom, has unveiled plans to extend its national movie and TV offerings in 2008, allocating some €200 million ($315.7m; £159.3m) to the project.

The move was confirmed by the company's cfo Gervais Pellissier in a radio interview Tuesday. FT will deliver content via its Orange cellphone, TV and internet units: "We will spend about 200 million euros on content for the French market in 2008," he said.

Customers will choose from six channels of films and TV series, accessing content on demand. The service will offer exclusive viewing of new films and TV series from Time Warner's Warner Brothers International Television and HBO units.
