Former AGB Chief to Succeed Sharman as Aegis Chair

02 July 2008

LONDON: Aegis Group has appointed former AGB Group ceo John Napier (pictured) to succeed Lord Colin Sharman as non-executive chairman when he retires on 17 July.

Australian-born Napier, who oversaw AGB in its glory days prior to its descent into the clutches of Robert Maxwell in 1990, has also filled the respective chairs of foods titan Booker Group, utilities giant Kelda Group, and Royal SunAlliance Group.

The appointment was hailed by Sharman: "[Napier] is a proven chairman who has delivered to shareholders, and brings international business skills and familiarity with marketing services. The board and I have every confidence that he will be an excellent appointment.
"I stand down from the board next month knowing shareholders' interests are in safe hands at Aegis, which is led by an excellent management team and a proven board of directors with a wide variety of experience."
