Ford Marketing Executives Join Chrysler

21 February 2001

DaimlerChrysler-owned Chrysler Group has poached two senior marketers from rival Ford Motor Company.

Ford yesterday announced the resignations of Jim Schrorer, vp–global marketing, and George Murphy, general marketing manager of Ford Division. Only hours later, Chrysler announced that the duo will fill two of its own top marketing posts from February 26.

Schrorer is to become executive vp–global sales and marketing for the Dodge, Chrysler and Jeep brands, where he replaces Ted Cunningham who left last year; while Murphy will succeed the retiring Arthur Liebler as senior vp–global brand marketing.

Ford commented that it was too early to announce successors, while insisting that the anticipated retirement of a third executive, Robery Rewey (vp–marketing and sales), “is not imminent”.
