Final Obstacle Removed In NBC-Vivendi Deal

23 April 2004

Media mogul Barry Diller has agreed a deal with Vivendi clearing the way for the estimated $14 billion (€11.7b;£7.9) sale of its US entertainment arm to NBC.

The deal effectively means that Diller gets back the $750 million (€631m;£424m) he invested in Vivendi Universal Entertainment after selling his US television assets to the French group’s former boss Jean Marie-Messier.

It is unclear whether InterActive Corp, the holding company which gave Diller a shareholding in VUE will gain a stake in the new venture, NBC Universal.
