Ferrari Connects with Vodafone in Sponsorship Extension

20 December 2004

Motor sport thoroughbred Ferrari has signed a further two year sponsorship deal with Vodafone.

The Formula One racing partners have yet to reveal the finer points of the finances, but their three year tieup which expired at the end of last season was worth £110 million (€82m, £56m).

The UK-headquartered global cellphone operator will glimpse its logo flashing past on cars and drivers and (at less breakneck speed) on the pit crews' overalls and helmets.

Says Ferrari team principal Jean Todt: "Our partnership with Vodafone has played a key role in our success ands we are firm believers in this association between two brands that represent excellence in their respective areas of activity."

Adds Vodafone marketing chief Peter Bamford: "We are very happy to continue our partnership with Ferrari, which has greatly enhanced our global brand profile and will enable us to continue to build Vodafone as one of the world's leading brands."
