'Farewell Dome,' Says Douglas-Home, 'Off to Reuters Now I Roam'

10 January 2001

Sholto Douglas-Home, former head of advertising and PR for British Telecom’s consumer division, is to join Reuters as head of marketing at its new Kalends unit.

Douglas-Home, scion of the noble Scottish family, boasts a long and varied career on the London advertising scene. He gained prominence when seconded by BT to the role of sales and marketing director at Britain's ill-fated Millennium Dome.

For Kalends, he will focus on marketing its future events service, which briefs and updates subscribers on upcoming consumer activities and events via the internet, mobile phones and other digital media. Kalends is part of Reuterspace, a recently created division charged with developing non-traditional ventures within the group.

Says Douglas-Home: “I could not resist the infectious energy in the Kalends team and the entrepreneurial spirit.” In a spirit of mutual admiration, Kalends chief executive Rupert Miles responded: “Sholto is a great addition to our senior management team. Through his career in advertising agencies at BT and his last role, he was gained a wealth of marketing experience which will be of tremendous value to Kalends.”
