FEDMA Urges ‘Sensitivity’ and ‘Security’ on European Mailshots to USA

19 October 2001

FEDMA (Federation of European Direct Marketing Associations) has circulated its members warning that US-bound mailings must be sensitive to consumer concerns. It also urged the need to promote security and the integrity of the direct mail business in the wake of the recent spate of bio-terrorist mailings.

“It is essential that the direct marketing business reacts fast to assure consumers that we are taking every effort to ensure security for mailings, particularly, of course, any mailings going from Europe to the USA,” said FEDMA director general Alastair Tempest. “We fully support our colleagues in the USA, who have issued a guideline for mailings. We in Europe must also be prepared.”
