FCB Reverses Out of Hyundai Grand Prix

The $160 million (€183.66m; £112.48m) Hyundai Motor America Grand Prix has just lost one of the five contestants for its US creative account, currently up for grabs [WAMN: 06-Mar-02].

Foote Cone & Belding West (Irvine, California, and San Francisco) has retired from the fray but is coy about its reasons. Industry observers believe that General Motors, a major client of FCB parent Interpublic, may have applied the handbrake.

Still roaring around the Hyundai circuit are Bates USA (West, Irvine, California), Publicis West (Seattle), Publicis & Hal Riney (San Francisco) and Richards Group (Dallas).

The checkered flag is expected to be waved over the winner by the end of April.
