FCB Arson Case: ‘Somebody Was Mad,’ Says Police Chief

15 May 2001

Police investigations continue into the May 2 arson incident in the third floor conference room of True North unit FCB Worldwide in San Francisco [WAMN: 09-May-01].

Police arson squad inspector Darcy Keller said investigations were continuing into the blaze which occurred the same day forty-five staff learned their services were no longer required under a ‘reorganization’ plan. In a feat of deduction Sherlock Holmes would have envied, Ms Keller observed: “Somebody was mad.”

There were no injuries in the fire which was extinguished by employees. But the lips of FCB executives were firmly zipped on the incident subject, save to classify it as “minor”.
