Elle Elbows into TeenMag Market

Hachette Filipacchi Magazines yesterday announced plans to enter the crowded teen magazine market with the launch in August 2001 of Elle Girl.

Basking in the reputation of the group’s flagship title, the debutante will target the 12-17 age group, launching with a ‘back-to-school’ theme and a rate base of 300,000. Frequency is periodic with one issue only planned for 2001 and four in 2002.

Publisher of Elle Girl is Linda Mason (45), a former publisher of Details, who recently worked on the pilot launch of Condé Nast’s Teen Vogue. Editor in chief is Brandon Holley (34), one-time senior editor of GQ.
