Eisner Inks Deal to Host US TV Talk Show

11 January 2006

Former Walt Disney Company ceo Michael Eisner on Tuesday inked a deal with cable business channel CNBC that will massage both his wallet and his ego.

As of an unstated date, Eisner will host a bimonthly interview program daringly titled Conversations with Michael Eisner. The star will also serve as executive producer, while chatting with "creative" and "innovative" business leaders, artists and maybe politicians.

The quondam front office hardman obviously relishes the switch from behind to before the cameras, having in October interviewed John Travolta and media baron Barry Diller while acting as stand-in for PBS talk show host Charlie Rose.

"I had a good time doing 'Charlie Rose'," Eisner admits. He also declared his concern that "creative executives are starting to disappear from the landscape in the media industry".

Who did he have in mind?
