EchoStar Targets Poorer Customers

COLORADO - The US satellite television operator has launched a prepaid service, branded DishNow, for poorer customers who fail to meet its credit criteria.
Consumers, typically immigrants and students, will pay cash up front for EchoStar Communications' equipment and a prepaid card to access programming on a monthly basis. The move reflects the company's focus on increasing its 12 million-plus subscriber base.
