EchoStar Signals Soaring Q4 Profits

   ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO - The US satellite television operator has reported a 90% jump in fourth-quarter net income and higher revenue as it recaptured two of every three additional subscribers during the period.
   EchoStar Communications' net income soared to $133 million (€110m; £76m) from £70m. Revenue rose almost 13% to $2.18 billion.
   Its Dish Network signed up 330,000 net new subscribers in Q4, 100,000 more than the increase reported by larger rival, the News Corporation-controlled DirecTV Group.
