E-Plus Reviews $118m Creative Duties

30 April 2001

One of Germany’s biggest ad accounts has been put up for grabs, with the news that mobile phone company E-Plus is reviewing its $118 million creative duties.

In danger of losing this hefty source of cash is incumbent Grey Worldwide in Düsseldorf. However, E-Plus, which is owned by Dutch telecoms company KPN Mobile, stressed that it had not terminated its contract with the agency, adding: “There is no criticism of the work Grey has done. In the past six years Grey has supported E-Plus excellently.”

Nevertheless, such placations have not stopped speculation that E-Plus – Germany’s third largest mobile phone network with 7.2m users – is already in talks with Crossworks DDB and BBDO Worldwide, both in Düsseldorf.

Media duties, handled by Hamburg’s Initiative Media, are not affected by the review.
