Dutch Publisher Offers Readers PVRs in Anti-TV Drive

    AMSTERDAM - The Netherlands' second largest newspaper publisher PCM, campaigning against alleged "unfair competition" from public TV broadcasters, is offering readers of its newspapers a discounted PVR that not only records programmes but can be used to skip TV ads.
    PCM, publisher of national titles such as de Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad and Trouw, argues that subsidised public broadcasters compete "unfairly" with newspaper publishers in the advertising market.
