Dentsu Division Swallows Oasis

New York’s Dentsu Business Development Group – a unit of Japanese agency giant Dentsu – is buying the same city’s Oasis Advertising for an undisclosed price.

The shop, which forged a non-equity partnership with Dentsu last year, employs 35 staff and claims billings of $41 million from clients such as the Government of India Tourist Office and Toyota Motor Sales USA.

Oasis will function as an independent unit of Dentsu Business Development, with Rand Pearsall continuing as partner and managing director.

Last week Sharp Electronics cited the Dentsu alliance when awarding Oasis its US account – the Japanese agency group handles the client’s advertising in a number of markets worldwide.
