02 June 2008

ROUND ROCK, Texas: Dell Computer has revealed that overseas sales are now driving its growth and predicts these will account for up to two-thirds of its total revenues within the next five years.

The world's second biggest PC maker says shipment growth in the BRIC nations [Brazil, Russia, India and China] grew 73% during the first quarter of this year, while international revenues for the first time outstripped domestic US sales.

The company posted better-than-expected Q1 results with a 9% rise in revenue to $16.08 billion (€10.3bn; £8.15bn), compared with the year earlier period. Profits climbed 4% to $784 million.
