Dallas Agency Collapses After Suicide Tragedy

20 November 2000

Berry-Brown Advertising of Dallas, Texas, will this month roll down its shutters after twenty-three years in business, following the suicide in October of chief financial officer, Philip Scheiber.

The shop has insufficient funds to pay creditors and alleges that “a significant amount of money is missing”. It declined to elaborate on any other reasons for its closure.

The exact closure date is undecided, according to chief executive Jim Hradecky, as the agency aims to fulfil current commitments to clients, among them Quaker Oats. "This has been a tremendous agency and we've always had a great reputation, so this is hard," Hradecky added.

All forty-nine employees will lose their jobs.
