DaimlerChrysler CEO Sticks to 2006 Profit Forecast

06 July 2006

TOKYO - DaimlerChrysler ceo Dieter Zetsche said Wednesday the German-US company is standing by its forecast of a 2006 operating profit in excess of €6 billion ($7.68bn; £4.17bn) - despite sales problems at its US Chrysler division.

Speaking in Tokyo, Zetsche said: "The composition of our profit for 2006 between the divisions has changed a little bit -- some are doing a little bit better and some a little worse. But the guidance is unchanged."

Stateside, the Chrysler division is sitting on ninety-one days unsold inventory and is currently touting the largest incentives offered by any US carmaker this year.
