The talks between German ISP T-Online and Dixons Stores Group came to an abrupt halt on Saturday when the former withdrew its offer to acquire Dixons’ 80% stake in FreeServe, the UK’s leading internet service provider. No reason was given for the decision.
FreeServe and Dixons will almost certainly feel obliged to clarify their position today with the London Stock Exchange. Meantime, US-owned cable network NTL is still thought to be a possible suitor for FreeServe.
