Coke's Swansong for Music Site

23 June 2006

LONDON - The Coca-Cola Company is to close its UK online music service next month, after losing market share to Apple's iTunes Music Store.

The site was launched two years ago and promoted heavily on the soft drink titan's packaging.

Coke said in a statement: "In 2004, the digital music scene was just developing and the only way for Coke to offer access to music downloads was to open our own store. That's not true today and there is no need for Coke to continue to run a store."
